Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley has announced that she is running for Ohio governor in 2018.

    Nan is a flyer and raider. She hails from Indiana, but has called Dayton home since earning an undergrad degree in chemistry from the University of Dayton.

    She received her master of public administration in 2009 from Wright State University. She was a Wright State adjunct professor.

    Whaley is the city of Dayton’s second female mayor. She was first elected to Dayton City Commission in 2005 and was the youngest woman in that role.

    She has served on the Montgomery County Board of Elections and was a deputy to Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith.

    She was a Democratic National Convention delegate in 2000, 2004 and 2012. She was chief of staff on the 2011 No on Issue 2 campaign and the Get Out the Vote Director for United States Senator Sherrod Brown in 2012. Nan has cast electoral votes for President Obama as an elector for Ohio’s Third Congressional District.
