6 things you ought to know about Dayton's adorable sloth

Every dog has its day, but dogs are not the only animals that deserve a day. We are wishing Patience, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery's resident sloth, a very happy International Sloth Day.
There is a little dispute about whether this "holiday" was on Oct. 17 or in fact today, Oct. 20.
We are going with the 20th figuring Patience doesn't care one way or another... she's a sloth, after all.
She has called the museum's zoo home since 2014.
Kristy D. Creel, spokeswoman for the Dayton Society of Natural History, said visitors can see Patience daily at the zoo or book a behind-the-scenes tour for an up-close experience with this patient sloth.
Here are six things you should know about this delightful girl (and sloth-kind in general):
-
She likes her belly full
Like other sloths, Patience is sedentary by nature, but the Boonshoft's staff assures us that she will certainly move for food.
-
Kristen Bell would love Patience... trust us
Kristen Bell freaked out in a good way when her now husband Dax Shepard got a sloth for her birthday party in 2012. She told the story on "Ellen," who made Bell freak out even more when she suggested a sloth was coming out.
-
She's always hanging around
Two-toed sloths spend most of their life asleep or hanging in the canopies of tropical rain forests in South America. Patience spends her time hanging in her enclosure at the zoo.
-
Sleepy head
Patience sleeps 15 to 18 hours a day, according to the Boonshoft.
-
Seriously, Patience likes her rest
-
Oh, so cute
Seriously, such a cutie!
