Ratliff, Arlan

Ratliff, Arlan Paul

Arlan Paul Ratliff went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at age 76. Arlan is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Carrie Ratliff, also his dear brothers Wally and Roland Ratliff. Arlan graduated from Northwestern High School in 1966, then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in High School Education from Morehead State University. After graduating, Arlan retired from being a geometry and calculus teacher and a bus driver for over 30 years at Scott High School in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Following his retirement, he moved back to Ohio and devoted himself, wholeheartedly, to looking after his aging parents. Arlan also kept himself busy by working part-time as staff bus driver for a nonprofit youth organization called On The Rise. Not only did Arlan excel in his career with the youth, he was also a very devout Christian and was involved in his church creating weekly Sunday programs and playing his guitar and harmonica during the church services. Arlan loved going antiquing, researching his ancestry, taking lots of photographs and being a train enthusiast. Being with his family was what brought him the most joy, especially being with his siblings Jack Ratliff and Rhonda(George) Koehler. His nieces Jillian Ratliff and Maria Ratliff(Chad Bowshier), and Ginger Perry, nephews, Tyler Ratliff and Jerritt Ratliff, and great nieces Addie and Everly Bowshier, and great nephew Caleb Perry. His Aunt Fern White, and several cousins, his family friend Lu Shaffer and his church family. Arlan will always be remembered for his generosity, his deep love for the Lord and his family. He leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Lawrenceville Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
