Last week on Sept. 15 the Greene Town Center hosted its first Beer Fest, which doubled as the Air Force Marathon’s after party. The event, which benefited The Miami Valley Restaurant Association, was packed with runners sporting their medals and gear and enjoying some well deserved frothy libations.

As we were walking around, surveying the lay of the land, we passed many of the more than two dozen dining options at The Greene with ample patios dotting the landscape.

The weekend weather was cooperating and the patios were filled out — especially around the square where the event was happening.

With so many great patios at The Greene within walking distance of each other, here are just a few of my personal favorite restaurants with great patios and happy hours to take advantage of that are worthy of a stop.

Bar Louie

4492 Glengarry Drive, Beavercreek

(937) 427-3900

This fun stop right across from the movie theater has martinis, microbrews, a large menu and plenty of happy-hour deals. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring $3.50 drafts, $4.50 wines and $5.50 signature martinis as well as half-price select apps and flatbreads.

The best deal takes place on Tuesday nights when you can create your own burger for a buck from 5 p.m. to close. Wednesday nights feature $1.25 domestic beer bottles.

bd’s Mongolian Grill

4488 Glengarry Drive, Beavercreek

(937) 427-1900

Happy hour takes place Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. featuring $4 local beers, local spirits, and wines, and $5 bd’s specialty drinks. Select appetizers start at just $3. Wednesday is student night where students with a valid ID get one bowl for $9.99 or unlimited bowls for only $11.99. Kids nights are Mondays and Tuesdays where children 10 and younger eat for only $3. I love a stop at bd’s every once in a while where I can make the dish I want but have someone else cook it, and their happy hour is definitely a good time to visit.

Brio Tuscan Grille

4459 Cedar Park Drive, Beavercreek

937-429-7792

You may not be able to do happy hour at the patio tables Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., but you can do it on those comfy couches. This is one of my favorite patios at the Greene. They have a reverse happy hour for appetizers Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to close, $5 martini Wednesdays from 3:30 to 9 p.m. with specials on bar bites including black pepper shrimp, buffalo chicken nachos, crispy shrimp brio, potato skins and tomato mozzarella salad and a wine night featuring $5 wines from 3:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays.

EO Burgers

4482 Glengarry Drive, Beavercreek

(937) 431-1242

Here’s the best deal: Monday through Thursday purchase any burger, side and beverage and received your movie tickets to The Greene 14 Cinemark Theaters at half-off regular admission price for just $6. Couple that with their $2 Tuesdays featuring 16-ounce old school sliders and draft beer and you have quite the deal. Happy hour runs 4 to 8 p.m. daily featuring $4-5 specialty drinks, and $3 well drinks.

Pasha Grill

72 Plum St., Dayton

937-429-9000

This restaurant is a favorite of mine featuring fantastic Turkish specialties that are heart healthy (for the most part) and delicious any time of year, hot or cold. Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday featuring $2.50 domestic beers, $2.95 imports, $3.95 draft beers, $3.95 martinis, mojitos, daiquiris and well drinks. Add one of their $3.95 appetizers including falafel, feta cheese roll, zucchini pancake, hummus, baba ganoush and tabouli and you’re in business.

The Pub

39 Greene Blvd., Beavercreek

(937) 320-1199

With two patios to choose from, this is a great spot to hit before the weather cools — or after — for its European-inspired bar. Happy hour takes place 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday featuring 20-ounce imperial pints at $5, well cocktails at $4 and $6.50 signature cocktails. House wines are $5.50 a glass or $20 a bottle. The shareable list is all $5 and includes a buffalo flatbread, dirty fries, fish sliders, boneless wings, cheese and pretzels, and bacon BBQ bangers.

Fleming’s

4432 Walnut St., Dayton

(937) 320-9548

This is one of the best steakhouses in town and also one of the most expensive. Head there Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. for happy hour featuring a selection of six wines, seven cocktails and nine appetizers for the best deals.
